Amazon enters Australia: Hype or Hurdle

With Amazon launching in Australia yesterday to what was mixed reviews, this insight paper from AMP Capital is timely!

From what I saw personally on the Australian site, it was a shadow of the US flagship version with US stock and lack of understanding of local sizes no doubt confusing to Aussie shoppers. I have no doubt that Amazon will only improve their Australian operations over time, but it is still far from a certain success. What is clear is that they will make their presence known and place pressure on retail sales margins and also force our local retailers to improve their customer experience and supply chains.

It’s not too long at 8 pages, so well worth a read.
